Re:Play Project

Toy Recycling and Upcycling for Play.

The Re:Play Project 2021-2024….And ongoing.

Our current focus is the Re:Play Project whereby we Recycle and Upcycle for Play - in order to enable accessible childcare, education as well as the nurturing of the mental, emotional wellbeing of children and their families.

Through our Re:Play Project, we strive to create a Circular Economy for the toy industry in Malaysia - connecting manufacturers, distributors, purchasers (public) and plastic recycling stakeholders who have excess stock, returns or preloved toys that Play Unlimited will collect, clean, sort , repack for these to be sent to marginalised communities that have little or no access to toys and learning materials for their children, preschools or schools. Thus, reducing inequalities in early childhood care and education. This will also prevent at least 100 tons of toys (90% of which are hard to recycle PVC) from ending in the landfill. As a result, it contributes towards creating a safer and healthier environment while at the same time, providing toys and play materials that helps create an environment for the positive social and emotional development of vulnerable children.

The Re:Play Project consists of the following 3 main components:

01 — Re:Play Toy Hub

Toys will be collected, recycled and upcycled here at this hub.

02 — Re:Play Toy Shoppe

Upcycled (preloved) and brand new toys (e.g. from toy manufacturers/suppliers) will be sold here.

03 — Re:Play Toy Library

Toy-rental services will be made available through our Re:Play Toy Library. ‘Stay and Play’ activities and play related workshops will also be conducted at this space.
